What this site uses
PineKey uses essential sign-in storage and preferences you explicitly choose. We do not add advertising trackers or behavioural analytics. There is no “accept everything” banner because no optional tracking is enabled. If that changes, optional storage will require an appropriate choice before it is used.
The rules cover local storage and similar technologies as well as cookies. See our privacy notice for the company, purposes and your rights.
Storage inventory
| Name / technology | Purpose | Lifetime / control |
|---|---|---|
pinekey_vault_session | Secure, HTTP-only sign-in cookie containing a signed opaque session identifier, not your master password or decrypted vault. | Up to 30 days; removed on sign-out. Server access can be revoked under Devices. |
pinekey-theme | Cookie and localStorage preference saved when you choose a theme. Used to render the same appearance and sync it across tabs. | Cookie: one year. Local preference: until cleared or changed; System follows the device. |
pinekey-device-id | Local device identifier used for sign-in and device management. | Until you clear site data. It is not an advertising identifier. |
pinekey-security | Local locking preferences chosen in Security. | Until changed or site data is cleared. |
pinekey-team-invite / pinekey-emergency-invite | Session storage used while accepting an organisation or emergency-contact invitation. | For the browser tab/session or until the invitation flow clears it. |
| IndexedDB: pinekey-offline; service-worker caches | An encrypted personal offline copy, only after you enable offline access; local app files used to display it. | Removed through offline settings, sign-out or clearing site data. Seven-day unlock limit; see the privacy notice. |
| Cloudflare security storage, if a protection feature issues it | Network-abuse protection may use first-party security cookies, for example a challenge clearance cookie. This is not advertising analytics. | Depends on the security feature/challenge. No optional analytics is intentionally enabled by PineKey. |
Your controls
Choose System in the theme menu to follow your device. Manage locking under Security and offline storage under Settings → Apps and clients. Your browser’s site-data controls remove cookies, preferences and caches; doing so signs you out and can remove an offline copy.
The Chrome/Edge extension has separate local storage for its own settings and protected session information. The CLI uses local credential storage. They do not share the website’s sign-in cookie. Blocking essential storage can prevent sign-in or offline features from working.
